Efficiency Works is a leading Australian facilitator of Lean Six Sigma Workshops.

Committed to the training and continuous application of Lean Six Sigma methodologies, we offer a range of engaging, real world outcome-focused workshops, tailored to simulate how the tools could be deployed in workplaces.

Efficiency Works tailors workshop agendas and training content to customer requirements and to the organisational roles of workshop participants. Subject matter, principles and terminology are aligned with the ‘Competitive Systems and Practices’ courses which are nationally-accredited under the Australian Skills Quality Authority.

Value Stream Mapping – provides participants with a basic understanding of process analysis and describes value-adding activity, identifies waste and identifies business improvement opportunities
7 Wastes – helps identify Value Adding and Non-Value Adding process activities
DMAIC/Root Cause Analysis/Problem Solving – (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control). Provides a structured and repeatable way to solve problems and sustain the outcomes
Visual Performance Management – shows participants a communication tool that helps to visualise workflow, monitor performance and identify and solve problems
5S – demonstrates how to improve the workplace by simplifying, organising and sustaining a productive work environment
Just In Time – helps participants understand the benefits of providing products and services only as required by customer demand
Leadership & Teamwork – demonstrates how leadership and working as a team has a direct impact on productivity, team morale and workplace culture

Workshop Facilitation and Training

Efficiency Works utilises experienced and qualified facilitators for all workshops and training courses. Our facilitators utilise a collaborative approach that quickly engages with participants, challenges thinking, transfers knowledge and builds skills. An Efficiency Works trainer utilises a combination of theory, learning exercises, visual aids and group discussion to ensure that participants are fully engaged over the duration of the workshop.

If the workshop requires alignment to the national ‘Competitive Systems and Practices’ certification then we will provide trainers with a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110), a qualification that reflects the roles of trainers in the vocational educational and training (VET) sector, and a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework for a structured VET program.

All workshops finish with an action plan. This action plan is then back briefed to management in a SMART goal format to detail how the participants will utilise their new knowledge to benefit the organisation. If required, the facilitator can be further engaged as a ‘coach’ for the leadership team to ensure the action plans stay on time and in full. This coaching can be provided on site or online via Zoom.

How long do our Lean Six Sigma workshops take?

Our off the shelf products typically range from 1 day to 6 days, depending on the complexity and challenges the organisation is trying to overcome. Of course, we can customise to suit your needs. In some cases, our workshop delivery has provided such value and realised benefits we continue to support clients over many months and years.

Isn’t Lean Six Sigma just for manufacturing?

No. While the foundations of Lean Six Sigma come from Toyota, Motorola and General Electric, in todays’ contemporary organisation, Lean Six Sigma is creating competitive advantage in professional services, health care, finance, not for profit, education, agriculture, and many others. If an organisation has people and process, then Lean Six Sigma can support your ‘excellence’ goals.

How does the process work?

You will initially meet with a senior leader of Efficiency Works. This is best done on site so we can view the workplace but is also available online. We will seek to understand your business purpose and goals, define your problem and current state and provide high-level recommendations. This is typically a few hours work and there are no obligation or charges.

How much time do I need to invest?

A few hours to meet, provide us some background material and sometimes answer some follow-up questions from the visit.

Can you customise the content?

We can insert your lexicon, key strategic value, and purpose statements to ensure the workshops align with the organisations people and processes. This is usually a simple task. We can heavily modify and even create bespoke training packages with a separate product development charge.

I know what I want, can you just deliver that?

We do not want a consultant to come in, deliver, then leave and all our efforts fall away?

Neither do we. We are passionate practitioners of organisational excellence and understand sustained change comes from the people within the organisation. Our approach is to impart knowledge, support your people’s practice of this knowledge to affect change and improvement, and then make ourselves redundant.

How do we formalise an engagement?

Once all parties have agreed on an approach, Efficiency Works will forward a formal Proposal for execution. This Proposal outlines the objectives, approach and expected outcomes. It will include all costings and our standard terms and conditions. On signing, we will invoice a deposit which allows us to lock in and introduce you to your allocated trainer/ facilitator.
